Dreamboats does Eurovision!

Dreamboats does Eurovision!

Eurovision - the world's biggest singing competition. So flamboyant, so far-reaching that it now even Australia takes part. Yeah, we don't get that either!

Join us as we take a look back at some of our favourite Eurovision songs from the Dreamboats era.

Let's start at the beginning... 1956, Switzerland where Lys Assia won with "Refrain". With only seven participating countries, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg and Italy, with each country had to present two songs.

In 1960, London played host city for the first time despite a Dutch victory in Cannes in 1959. Although France won in this year, our favourite is UK entry, Bryan Johnson.

Between 1959 and 61 the UK had a run of second place, starting with this cheery number from Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson.

Our first win came in 1967 with this classic from Sandie Shaw which gathered more than twice as many votes as the runner-up, Ireland.

1969 saw a very curious four-way winners tie, with our Lulu in the mix with 'Boom, Bang Bang'.
